Dr. Maggio completed his Residency at the University of Virginia-National Institute of Health, and went onto complete a Neurosurgery Fellowship in Spine Oncology and Spine Deformity at Ohio State Wexner Medical Center. Awarded Society of Neuro-Oncology Distinguished Research Award on November 17, 2017 given to top 10 of 800 posters presented at the Society of Neuro-Oncology annual meeting in San Francisco, CA.

Awarded second prize on April 13, 2012 at the University of Miami Business Plan Competition, for the creation, submission, and presentation of the Ophysio, Inc. business plan.

Awarded Best Research Project of the Year July 25, 2009 at the Florida Medical Association’s (FMA’s) annual meeting and poster competition at The Boca Raton Resort & Club.
